FAQ
Right To Play is a global organization that protects, educates, and empowers children to rise above adversity using the power of play. We reach millions of children each year in some of the most difficult places on earth, helping them to stay in school and graduate, resist exploitation, overcome prejudice, prevent disease, and heal from the trauma of war. We do this by harnessing play, one of the most fundamental forces in a child's life, to teach children the critical skills they need to dismantle barriers and embrace opportunities, in learning and in life.
For 25 years, we have delivered programs with impact in both development and humanitarian contexts. As pioneers in a unique approach to learning, both inside and outside of the classroom, we harness play, one of the most fundamental forces in a child’s life, to help children dismantle barriers and embrace opportunities.
We offer programs in 14 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Indigenous communities in Canada. Visit the Our Work page to learn more about the countries we work in.
We offer programming in four core areas: Early childhood care and education, primary education, gender equality and girls’ well-being, and emotional well-being.
Play is one of the most transformative forces in a child’s life. Play is not just for fun: it’s how children understand the world, how they articulate their hopes and dreams, how they learn to communicate with and interact with others, and how they develop and grow into adulthood. Play tests a child’s capabilities in ways that encourage them to experiment and grow without fear of failure.
Donations give children the chance to learn in safe spaces from teachers who are trained in how to make learning inclusive, playful, and engaging. Donations ensure children who are displaced or living in situations of crisis have the support they need to cope with and overcome trauma and get back to learning. They ensure that girls have the same opportunities to play, learn, and lead as boys. And they donations ensure that parents and caregivers of young children can support their early learning and development to set them up for success in school and in life. You can find stories of the life-changing impact of our work here. Thank you for your support.
