Anders Aukland
Cross-country
Anders Aukland is a former Norwegian cross-country skier and track and field athlete, and was, among other achievements, an Olympic champion in 2002. After his active sports career, he has become strongly involved in humanitarian work and has been an ambassador for Right To Play since 2008.
In 2021, Aukland set an impressive world record by skiing more than 700 kilometers continuously over the course of 41 hours. This record attempt helped raise over 1.1 million NOK for Right To Play, providing thousands of children with access to education and development opportunities.
After serving as an ambassador since 2008, Aukland visited Ethiopia in 2023 to see how Right To Play uses play as a tool to help children gain access to education. The visit made a strong impression on him and gave him insight into how Right To Play provides children with a place to play and learn.
